  • What is the difference between the fall semester and the spring semester?
Lacrosse is a spring sport, so all of our games are during the spring semester.  A typical week in the fall comprises around two field practices and one conditioning session per week, along with a few weekend scrimmages. Before practice, all players, especially players who are new to the sport,  are encouraged to arrive a half an hour early to practice their basic stick skills.

In the spring, you can expect the practice schedule to consist of two or three weekday practices. We usually have one game each weekend, either at Cal or around California. Take a look at our 2020 Sample Schedule to get an idea about what teams we play.

  • Who is eligible to play on your team?
UC Berkeley undergrads, UC Berkeley grad students, and FPF students may play for our team if they have WCLA eligibility remaining.

  • Can I join the team even if I don't have prior experience with lacrosse?
Even though prior experience is encouraged, it is not required. The fall semester is a great time for new or less experienced players to come out and work on their stick skills and learn the basics. Most of the girls on the team played in high school, but we have had a handful of successful players who picked it up in college.

  • Do you hold tryouts?
It depends on the year. For the 2022-2023 school year, as we are still rebuilding our team after COVID-19, expect that we will not hold official tryouts i.e. there will be no "cuts."

  • How much are dues?
Our team is undergoing many changes this year, so it's hard to predict at present. We will do everything we can to make the price of dues reasonable through numerous fundraising efforts, and all players will have the opportunity to cover a portion of the cost of their dues through additionally fundraising.

  • I have a really busy school schedule this year due to work, other clubs, and/or sorority duties. Will I still have time?
Yes! Club sports are great because we realize that above all, you are a student and that should come first. Our players have always been very involved in extracurricular activities. Many of the girls on the team are balancing jobs, ambitious academic goals, sororities, volunteer work, and other commitments, so many of us are managing busy schedules as well. Check out the Current Players section of the website to get an idea about what other activities our club members are involved in. Every single one will tell you that committing to this team is worth it!

  • What if I still have questions?
If you have any other lingering questions, doubts, concerns, etc., do not hesitate to direct them to calclublacrosse@gmail.com, and one of our team officers will happily assist you.
