Please read our joining the team FAQ page!
While Cal Women's Club Lacrosse is brimming with talented players, we believe that teamwork always trumps individual skill. Therefore, we expect high levels of commitment from all of our players during our spring season in order to grow together as a team. It is definitely possible to balance Club Lacrosse with busy class schedules, club or work engagements, and sorority involvement. Here's a breakdown of what is expected:
Above all else, Cal Women's Club Lacrosse players are dedicated students so academic commitments always come first. At the beginning of each season, players submit their schedules to the team captains and coaches so that they can be excused from practice if there is a class conflict. After submitting a schedule, you are expected to be at every practice if you do not have class. Be sure to update your captains and coaches if your classes change!

- If you must miss a practice for any reason that isn't indicated in your schedule, you must let BOTH captains and coach(es) know as soon as possible. If you have class before practice and you will arrive late, you must alert your captains and try your best to make it to practice in a timely manner. For example, having class that ends at 4:30 when practice starts at 4 means that you are expected to show up to practice right after class. While we realize that school gets stressful and busy during midterm season, but skipping practice to study is not an excusable absence unless you let your captains know your plans at least one day in advance. Texting your captains 15 minutes before practice is not acceptable.
- If you hold a leadership position in another club or sorority, you will be only be excused if there are important meetings/events. However, practice is most efficient if all members of the team are present so we urge you to find a compromise in this situation.
- Arriving late to practice, unexcused, creates a distraction and wastes time for the team. We expect all players to be on the field with cleats on and ready to start the warm up exactly on time. Cal Women's Club Lacrosse practices and games are NOT on Berkeley Time.
- If you must miss a game, let your captains, coaches, and team know immediately. We are a team that relies on all members and therefore games are not optional.
- Throughout the year, we will have planned team bonding events and team dinners. These events are very important to foster a real sense of community and most of all, they're fun!
